I've been upgrading Parallels Desktop for years using onthehub for the educational discount. While I love the new features in v.14, I'm SUPER annoyed to find out that the purchase was only for a 1-year subscription. I should have read the description more carefully, but I assumed I was buying the program forever, like when I bought versions 12 and 13 for the same price ($39.99). It comes with Parallels Toolbox and Access, which is new and can only be used through a subscription no matter where you buy it, but the main software purchase should be permanent.

Parallels is a great way to run Windows only apps on a Mac. Awesome that you can get Windows from OnTheHub for free too.

Have been using Parallels for over 10 years. I usually skip a version because I find the new features are not enough to warrant the upggrades every year. Well it looks liks with v14 they are forcing me to upgrade. Way to anger your customer base. May need to look at vmware next time around.

I bought Parallels 13 six months ago, now I have to pay same price to upgrade after less than the year and the license has change to yearly, this is truly total RIPOFF specially for students

I was a bit hesitant to buy virtual machine software since there is free software like VirtualBox available. After years of being frustrated with the sluggishness of VirtualBox, I took the plunge. Parallels provides powerful, efficient virtual machine software with a sleek interface. For Windows, I wasn't sure I wanted to use a vm because vms aren't the best for gaming. Parallels gives you the best of both worlds. Parallels lets you virtualize your bootcamp partition - for normal, everyday tasks, use Parallels; but when you want to game, shut down the vm and boot into Windows.

Parallels' interface makes managing virtual machines as easy as managing apps.
