Productivity Hacks for Students

College is a new phase of life and an exciting new journey for all of us. For the first time in your life, you’re on your own. You’re far from your parents and have to make decisions by yourself.

However, freedom comes with lots of responsibilities. Getting up on time, attending classes, and cleaning your living area is left to you. Being a college student can be overwhelming, between social media, your social life, and your coursework. Staying focused and productive is a skill you have to develop.

Below are some productivity hacks to help improve your life on campus.

Create Time to Relax

Being a student shouldn’t be all work and no play. It should be about much more than attending lectures, studying, and completing assignments. Don’t get lost under piles of work. Take out time to socialize with roommates, friends, and other students.

Taking time off work will help develop your network of friends. When you get back to work, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to learn.

Establish A Proper Sleep Routine

Depriving yourself of sleep while waking early for school is not ideal. Without proper sleep, you’ll struggle to remain focused, which may cause you to make mistakes and experience fatigue. Not having the proper amount of sleep will affect your productivity and health. The healthier you are, the more productive you’ll be.

Sit in the First Row

This productivity hack is incredibly easy. Occupying a seat in the front row forces you to focus on your lecturer. You can’t fall asleep or play around if you’re in front. It aids your focus and improves your productivity.

Take Notes

Writing everything down is a great memory trick. The human brain is more inclined to remember things we write down than what we hear. Writing notes is a visual way of storing information in your long-term memory.

Start a Study Group

Everyone needs and appreciates motivation and support; I mean, who doesn’t? Forming a study group is a smart way to stay motivated while catching up on studying in a welcoming and fun environment. Your study group is there for you when you have an off day, and you also get to return the favor.

Eat Healthy and Exercise Regularly

The food we eat daily can either help or hurt our bodies. Carbohydrate-rich foods such as pasta offer a burst of energy that is usually followed by tiredness. Foods high in fat, such as burgers, provide more energy but cause our digestive system to work harder, which reduces oxygen levels in the brain, making you feel dizzy and tired. Healthier fruits such as vegetables and fruit help you stay alert, thus improving productivity.

Exercising is another great way to increase blood flow to the brain. This increases your awareness and alertness, helping you focus properly on the task at hand.
