Corel Has a New Name – Here’s What You Need to Know

What Happened to Corel?

Corel Corporation recently announced that they aren’t Corel Corporation anymore. After over 35 years operating under that name (during which they developed some pioneering and innovative software), the company has rebranded themselves.

Say so long to Corel – and hello to Alludo.

Why Alludo?

So where did the new name come from? Apparently, it came from an appreciation for wordplay.

Alludo (pronounced ah-LOO-dough, according to a blog post by the company) is a play on “all you do.” This is a nod to the company’s mission to empower people to perform any job or task using the company’s tools. Or, as it’s put in that blog post, to “offer the solutions that enable people to create, ideate, and share information anywhere, any time, on any device.”

What About All Their Software?

The good news is that all the Corel software you know and love isn’t going anywhere – and neither are their names. This is a rebrand in the Google-to-Alphabet or Facebook-to-Meta vein. The core products for which you know the company aren’t changing – CorelDRAW, for example, will remain CorelDRAW – just the name of the company that owns and produces those IPs.

In other words, there’s no need to learn a bunch of new product names – CorelCAD, WordPerfect, Parallels, PaintShop Pro, and the rest of Corel’s catalog will keep the same names as always. The only new name to remember is Alludo: the new Corel.
