Windows computers have been popular for almost 40 years. Since their inception in 1985, they’ve been an integral part of schools, organizations, and homes. Before we had mobile phones, Windows PCs were the only digital tech that was used across all age groups and industries.
As the years progressed, Microsoft released diverse versions of Windows geared for use in specific settings. These include versions of Windows 10 (and more recently Windows 11) branded Windows Education, which are designed for use by students and educators. These operating systems feature settings, security enhancements, and functionalities aimed at schools. However, as full-fledged versions of the world’s most popular operating system, they also include a ton of cool features for students.
Below are some of the cool things you can do on Windows Education.
Improved Writing and Reading
Windows 10 and 11 provides learning tools that help improve comprehension, writing with visual aids, and reading speed. The software has a feature that helps with highlighted texts, reading out the content and breaks words down syllable by syllable.
Better Storytelling
Microsoft features photo apps that make storytelling so much more interesting. With improved graphics and video, creative communication and engagement will be improved among students and teachers.
Updated Controls
Windows Education offers Onscreen Eye controls. This gives students with physical impairments and special needs hands-free control of the onscreen keyboard and mouse.
Creativity
With apps like Paint 3D, students are able to explore their creative sides and bring beautiful, challenging concepts to life beautiful. This allows students to create amazing models based on their thought processes.
Productivity Tools
Teachers and students can use Whiteboards, a digital board used for improved collaboration. The ‘nearby sharing’ feature allows students to exchange information and notes wirelessly. Focus assistance helps students focus during work hours by getting rid of distractions, and the Take a Test app helps teachers conduct digital assessments or assignments.
Extra Features
Windows Education has a password-free sign-in process. Instead of typing a password, you can sign in using facial recognition, companion devices, or a fingerprint. Windows Autopilot transforms a new device into a classroom-ready device, allowing you to reset devices without physically touching the device.
These features aid students and teachers in the learning process and makes education much more interesting and easier.
